Biriyani Meets Mitochondria

There’s a certain magic in food. Not just in taste, aroma, or plating, but in the stories it tells, the places it takes you, and the joy it stirs up.

Years ago, I set out to prove something I’ve always believed: good food and good health aren’t enemies. That belief took me across six continents, from humble street stalls to iconic kitchens. I’ve tasted joy, discipline, and culture, sometimes in the same bite.

I’ve written about food, judged it, celebrated it, and let it shape many of my most meaningful experiences. And yet, I’ve always lived in what felt like two worlds - the preventive doctor deeply immersed in longevity science… and the food lover who refused to settle for “low-fat cheesecake.”

It took me sometime to realize that they were never really two different worlds. They were waiting for a moment to share a plate.

And that moment is now.

The world has changed. Our plates have too. Ultra-processed food has become convenience, and “healthy” has become tasteless. Somewhere between insulin spikes and Instagram likes, we forgot that balance isn’t the absence of indulgence but the presence of intention.

I didn’t stop loving food. I just started choosing more wisely.

And I realized: the doctor in me and the foodie in me don’t contradict each other.

In fact, they complete the picture.

So no, this isn’t goodbye to food writing.

It’s just a new format.

I’ll still share incredible dishes, chef stories, and moments worth remembering.

I’ll just do it through a lens I trust even more now:

Biriyani Meets Mitochondria

I want to thank every reader, chef, critic, and food lover who’s shared this journey with me. You helped me taste the world.

Now let’s live a little longer to enjoy more of it.
